Alessandro Fontanella received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering with honors from Politecnico di Milano in October 2021, with the thesis entitled "Make floating wind turbines see waves – Advances in Floating Turbine Control and Scale-Model Experiments". In January 2022 he took up the position as Fellow Researcher (RTDA SSD ING-IND / 13) at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Politecnico di Milano. He is the author of 28 scientific articles published either in international peer-reviewed journals, or in the proceedings of international conferences. Currently, his current research activities are: the development of control logics for floating wind turbines, their non-stationary aerodynamics, the design of wind turbine models for wind tunnel tests. Collaborating with the most prominent research institutes on the wind energy research scene, he has participated and participates in several international research projects funded under the Horizon 2020 program.
