Francesco Ferrise is an Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Politecnico di Milano and has been qualified as a full professor in sector 09 / A3 since 2016. Graduated with honours in Mechanical Engineering (vecchio ordinamento) in 2005 at the University of Calabria, he obtained a PhD at the Politecnico di Milano in 2010. He carries out research activities in the field of Virtual, Mixed and Augmented Reality. He is the author of more than one hundred articles published in international journals and conferences on virtual, mixed and augmented reality technologies in numerous application areas: industrial, design, medical, marketing, sustainability, and basic research. Six of the papers presented at the conference received recognition (best industrial impact award, reviewers' favourite). He is associate editor of the ASME Journal of Computing and Information Science in Engineering (JCISE), Frontiers in Psychology and Frontiers in Computer Science (section Human-Media Interaction). He is involved in major international conferences and communities on Virtual, Mixed and Augmented Reality as a scientific committee member or with similar roles. He teaches Haptics - Technologies for the sense of touch for the master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is responsible for the Virtual Prototyping track in the MSc in Mechanical Engineering. He is responsible for the Haptics and Virtual Prototyping Lab activities, as documented in scientific publications. He was a member of the National Board of the scientific sector ING-IND / 15. For the Department of Mechanical Engineering, he is currently a member of the Board with responsibility for Culture, Sustainability, Social Responsibility. In the past, he has held the same role with responsibility on policies for young researchers.
