Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1991 from the Politecnico di Milano, in 1995 he was awarded a Ph.D. in Applied Mechanics. In 1996 he joined as a Researcher at the Dipartimento di Meccanica of the Politecnico di Milano for the disciplinary grouping of Methods and Tools for Industrial Design. In 2001 he assumed the title of associate professor at the School of Industrial Engineering of Politecnico di Milano.
The main line of research concerns the methodologies applied to the design process and the use of CAD and computer graphic systems to support the design and product development. The most recent researches are devoted on the application of methods and on the definition of tools able to support the designer during all the design phases. Together with studies concerning the procedures for the identification of the requirements associated with the systematic innovation of the product, further researches concern the application of Knowledge Based Systems and on systems suitable for automatic configuration of products and industrial installations. He has collaborated and participated, even as the responsible scientific, at researches and consultancies carried out for the Dipartimento di Meccanica of the Politecnico di Milano, both at national and international level. In this context, he is author and co-author of several journal articles and of many reports presented at national and international conferences.
Since 1991, he has been teaching of courses in the field of expertise of his grouping scientific. At the present, he is teacher of the course on “Design Methods” for the Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering and of the courses on "CAD Laboratory" and on "Technical Methods of Representation" for the Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He periodically holds update courses on the methods of application of the standards ISO GPS and ASME 14.5 on the prescription of tolerances in designing.
