After ten months of design, production, assembly, and track testing of the new prototype, it's time for us to face the decisive moment of the season: the races.
FSCH - Formula Student Switzerland: August 12-17, 2024
This is the first time the team has participated in the Swiss competition. Although it's a new stop in the world of Formula Student, the level of competition is constantly and rapidly growing.
The first results of our hard work quickly arrived: first place in the Business Plan Event, first place in the Cost and Manufacturing Event, and second place in the Engineering Design Event, just two points behind the first place out of 150 points.
When it came time for the dynamic events, the car encountered a technical issue, and we were forced to retire from the Skidpad event. However, we secured three second-place finishes in the Acceleration, Autocross, and Endurance events, as well as a third place in Efficiency.
The race concluded with our first-ever second place overall in the electric category of the team's history!
FSA - Formula Student Austria: July 21-25, 2024
In Austria, the level of competition rose: among the 38 participating universities, almost all the top teams of Formula Student were present. Despite the tough competition, we managed to finish in the top ten in every event, except for the Engineering Design Event, where we placed twelfth. Unfortunately, during the Endurance event, contact with a track bump caused a tyre blowout on the penultimate lap, forcing us to make an emergency pit stop. We completed the 22 km race, but losing a flap due to the incident resulted in disqualification. In the final standings, we placed tenth.
We are still satisfied with the result, as we collected 36% more points than the previous season, excluding Endurance!
FSCZ - Formula Student Czech Republic: August 5-10, 2024
After a six-year absence from the Czech competition, we returned to Most for the season's first manual and driverless race.
We were the only team to make the podium in both categories, specifically third place in the driver category, just four points behind the reigning world champions, and second place in the driverless category. This was made possible thanks to excellent manual static and dynamic placements, including second place in the Business Plan Event, third place in the Engineering Design Event, Autocross, and Endurance. As for the driverless events, we never left the podium, winning Acceleration and Trackdrive!
FSG - Formula Student Germany: August 12-18, 2024
As a tradition, Germany is the race that concludes the season and, like Austria, features most of the top teams. This race, like the Czech Republic, saw us competing in both manual and driverless categories, along with 78 other teams from over 25 countries. Our goal was to return to the podium in the season's most important race.
In this race, we managed to stay in the top ten in every event except for the Engineering Design Event EV and Acceleration EV. We also secured second place in the Skidpad event with a driver and third place in Trackdrive.
An electrical failure in the low-voltage system prevented us from finishing the Endurance event, as the car had to stop shortly after passing the halfway point of the required distance. It was truly unfortunate, especially considering that we were among the five fastest cars on the track at that moment.
The German competition ended with a seventeenth place in the driver category and third place in the Driverless category!
The 2024 DP15 season was an intense journey full of experiences. Each race brought valuable lessons and highlighted our project's strengths and areas for improvement.
We competed with the best in the world, demonstrating our worth in every event. With the right team spirit and the will to keep improving, we are ready to do even better in the next season!
