Graduated in Mechanical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano in 2009, he obtained the PhD degree cum laude in 2013 with the thesis Experimental Characterization of Microstructural deformation mechanisms. From February 2014 till December 2015 he worked as a post-doctoral Research Associate at the University of Illinois in the High Temperature Materials Lab leaded by Prof. H. Sehitoglu focusing on the new NiTiHf shape memory alloys for high temperature applications. From October 2016, he joined the research group of Prof. S. Beretta (Politecnico di Milano, Department of Mechanical Engineering) as a temporary Research Assistant (RTDA).
Author of about 30 publications and responsible of industrial research collaborations, his recent research activity focuses on the definition of design criteria of mechanical components in the context of the damage tolerance. He investigated the effects of the material microstructure in the mechanical behaviour for a wide range of alloys: TiAl intermetallics, the NiTiHf shape memory, the new entropy alloys, Ni-based super alloys for high temperature applications, FeCr alloys both in polycrystalline and single crystals.
His research activity is mainly focused on the experimental characterization of materials: fatigue, plasticity, high temperatures, electron-backscattered diffraction grain orientation measurements, X-ray diffraction, microscopy, Digital Image Correlation.
He is also the Teaching Assistant in the Mechanical Engineering department of the courses: Machine Design 1 and Modelling the Mechanical behaviour of Materials.
