The research group on Product Design has been working for more than 30 years in the area of methods and tools supporting product development, including domains such as geometric modelling, parametric and feature-based modelling, CAD, PDM and Knowledge Based Engineering (KBE) systems. These domains have recently been incorporated into a larger area known as Product Lifecycle Management – PLM, where novel methodologies and tools supporting product development lifecycles, are developed.

These range from the inventive tasks involved in the conceptual design phase to the management of sustainability issues related to product reuse, disassembly, dismantling and recycling.
